It’s their day off when we meet Ann Denisova and Mikheil Tamoian, the owners of Mirage. A modern restaurant in Dendermonde, Belgium. Famous in the region for its refined French-Belgian cuisine, personal service and warm welcome.
‘Simplicity is a virtue’, that’s the motto Mikheil and Ann live up to. At Mirage you find no frills or fuss, but pure flavours and fresh ingredients. In this contemporary restaurant the guests are welcomed in a vibrant but comfortable setting.
Mikheil oversees the kitchen. After working as a Chef for various companies, he and Ann opened Mirage in May 2014. Tasty fresh lobster is Mikheil’s specialty and guests can enjoy a monthly changing culinary menu at Mirage. It’s good custom to start the menu with five delicious appetizers. ‘Especially the chicken mousse is appreciated by our guests. I’m not even allowed to take it off the menu’, Mikheil jokes.
Their son Youri Tamoian is the service manager at Mirage. Father and son have a joint project in creating their own gin. ‘It took a while to get the taste right, but nowadays our gin is locally distilled just for Mirage. This delicious gin is presented in a beautiful bottle and the perfect aperitif’, the gentlemen state.
At Mirage the price-quality ratio is remarkable well balanced. ‘Nowadays it’s a challenge to keep dining out affordable for your guests’, says Ann, general manager at Mirage. ‘But in a family business it is much easier to keep prices attractive as we house in our own building and have few staff.’
