International Hotel Capital Partners is a young, ambitious hotel group with 5 hotels in their portfolio:

The hotels of International Hotel Capital Partners operate independently. With Director Hotels Remco Gerritsen on the helm, the cluster team of IHCP fully supports their hotels on IT, HRM, Sales and Marketing.

The company has sound aspirations and keeps investing in their future. During covid time various improvements were made in the hotels and Mercure Amersfoort switched to OPERA Cloud. A major software upgrade, which resulted in standardized processes and increased efficiency in the hotels. And with the opening of the Moxy The Hague and Residence Inn by Marriott in August 2022, IHCP became the largest player in the The Hague hotel market.

Using the multi-property solutions OPERA Cloud PMS & Oracle MICROS Simphony POS

Thijs van den Nouland is Project & IT Support Manager at IHCP. Even though he has extensive knowledge in his field, he wants to work with a partner who thinks ahead and is familiar with the objectives of IHCP. So, the best route and actions can be determined.

Thijs states that OPERA is the Mercedes among the PMS systems. ‘It’s an extensive application and it never lets you down. With OPERA Cloud the software got a modern appeal and it works like a charm.’ As IHCP also attracts staff from abroad it’s an advantage that OPERA is widely used internationally. ‘9 Out of 10 new employees have experience working with OPERA. Therefore, it’s easier for them to master their job.’

In the Marriott hotels the F&B departments work with Oracle MICROS Simphony POS. ‘Simphony is user-friendly and intuitive to use, which makes it easy to train new team members. The back of the house management console offers countless functionalities to automate our business professionally.’

‘For IHCP it is important that all data is collected in one database. It’s very convenient that the cluster- and hotel teams can work in the application simultaneously. We can analyze data, run extensive reports, make updates and adjustments while our operational departments continue working. We are flexible and can react quickly in case of any problems.’

‘With the software of Van Hessen we optimize the customer journey and improve guest satisfaction,’ Thijs states. ‘With these Oracle Hospitality products, we can accommodate the wishes and requirements of our guests.

Everything is automated and connected. Manual operations are down to a minimum, so our team can fully focus on our guests. This is one of the reasons our team likes working with OPERA Cloud and MICROS Simphony.

‘MICROS Simphony and OPERA Cloud are fully integrated in our properties which makes operations very effective. And we constantly aim to improve this. Recently we installed PlanetPay for payments and now Pay@table is integrated in our hotels.’

Renaissance Amsterdam Airport works with the extensive Sales & Catering module, which is fully connected to Simphony and OPERA. ‘The conference & event market can be challenging. Every request is different and you have to meet the wishes of the guests. If we face a challenge, I collect the internal requirements and pass them on to Van Hessen. Van Hessen always comes up with a proper solution.’

Deliver & care

Thijs states that the co-operation with Van Hessen is excellent. ‘It’s a solid partnership and their service is very good. Van Hessen is the best partner for Oracle Hospitality products. Above all, they are conscious that trusted care and support makes the difference’

‘For general queries, we use the self-service support portal. But for more pressing matters we contact Van Hessen directly. The Van Hessen team is very experienced and involved. Even major issues are usually resolved within 1 or 2 days. They can work remotely while one of our team members is present in the hotel to test and give feedback. That’s very time efficient.’ On a regular base IHCP and Van Hessen evaluate their collaboration. The opening of the hotels in The Hague, is the perfect occasion to meet up and share feedback and suggestions. ‘It helps us to act even faster and more effective on future projects.’

Thijs is confident about the future collaboration with Van Hessen. ‘At International Hotel Capital Partners we have a clear vision for the future and what we want for our business. With Van Hessen we have a strong and trustworthy partner at our side, who thinks along and act accordingly.’
