Be prepared for an unforgettable experience when visiting Château d’Urspelt. This majestic castle is located in the heart of National Park ‘Our’ and offers a stunning scenery. The owner of Château d’Urspelt conducted the renovation with respect for the castle’s heritage, giving back its splendor and charm of 200 years ago.

Château d’Urspelt has a fascinating history. No wonder that it is classified as a National monument. It’s actually the only castle in Luxembourg with a hotel, restaurant and spa function. Here, history meets hospitality and modern comfort. ‘Historical buildings need special attention and proper maintenance. However, we enjoy searching for new ways to upgrade our service and make the castle even more attractive’, Elvire Perat, Community Manager of Château d’Urspelt states.

‘There are so many distinctive characteristics to highlight, but most special about Château d’Urspelt is the authenticity of our team. Our staff is very hospitable, they always go the extra mile and have a perfect eye for detail. This all gives our château the special ambiance which is so highly appreciated by our guests.’

Exceeding guest expectations by upgrading our technology

‘To stay on top of our game we decided for a big IT upgrade. In our Food & Beverage outlets we now work with Oracle MICROS Simphony POS and on the hotel side we upgraded to Oracle Hospitality OPERA Cloud PMS. Next to that we integrated OSEM (OPERA Cloud Sales & Event Management) also delivered by Van Hessen. This solution makes managing our sales and event venues much more efficient. And all solutions integrate perfectly.

With this technology we are ready for the future. We can effortlessly cater for our guests wishes and improve their experience. And the systems are very convenient to use which makes our life easier too’, Elvire smiles.

Getting up and running with the solutions of Van Hessen

‘We are fortunate to have a steady and dedicated team at Château d’Urspelt. They’ve been working with the previous system for years. So, some habits became ingrained. Change may be unpleasant, as you never know for certain how a new system will impact your work’, Elvire explains.

‘There is always a small chance it turns out different than expected, but the installation by Van Hessen went perfectly. The Van Hessen team made the switch of systems much easier than expected. They listened to our wishes and took our specific needs into account.’

We took our time to become familiar with the new software. We felt it was important to honestly inform our guests that we were going through a learning curve. We decided to take a playful approach because there is no need to get stressed about a new way of working. Why not admit that you’re a little bit lost finding your way around in a new system? Our guests really appreciated our explanations and honesty. It made them smile’, Elvire says.

The training Van Hessen provided to our team was excellent and actually very enjoyable. We felt free to ask any questions that came to mind. Even now we are fully operational, Van Hessen’s care & support remains very accessible, swift and dedicated. We are very satisfied with their service.

Ultimately, we want to be as hospitable as possible at Château d’Urspelt. These new IT solutions along with our partnership with Van Hessen allows us to make it happen.’
