Meeting our requirements
‘Before we switched to OPERA Cloud, our management company in Ireland carried out an audit and they pointed out some concerns. Being part of a hotel collection, we need things to run synchronized,’ Raf explains.
‘The recommendations from the audit and the requirements needed were taken up well by Van Hessen. They immediately conducted a professional survey and analysis, and came up with excellent input for ensuring GDPR guidelines, security measures and functionality.
We’ve been working with Van Hessen for 20 years now and it’s great to have support nearby. We had a server outage in the past and the Van Hessen team was at your doorstep within 2-3 hours. And when we had a defective switch years ago, they immediately installed a temporary replacement device, until the new one arrived. This way operations continue and guests are not hindered by internal problems.’

For example, Oracle has devised a good solution to automatically process the VAT guidelines that apply per country. Switching from Suite8 to OPERA Cloud PMS
‘Changing systems also implies changing your way of working. Our team has to get used to it and the Van Hessen team was very helpful. Faults are made sometimes but with an open dialog you can smoothen up things and make it work. We can always count on Glenn Dierickx, Sales Executive at Van Hessen. He came over for an evaluation on the installation and arranged the final things to be done. The Gresham Belson Hotel Brussels has a very good working relationship with Van Hessen. When you work together that long, you get to know each other well. I can rely on them,’ Raf says.
‘Ultimately our guests benefit, but primarily it was an important upgrade for our internal organization. OPERA Cloud is somewhat more complex than our previous PMS, but it offers endless possibilities. We have an integration with Exact Online which is a timesaver and the integration with Worldline, for credit card payments, will be implemented soon. Being able to access all management information from home is useful. And our housekeeping department can work more effective now. When colleagues in the hotel industry ask me which systems we use, I don’t mince words. Because working with OPERA Cloud PMS is great and that should be heard.’
