About Moxy, where everything is done a little differently

The Moxy Luxemburg Airport opened its doors in September 2024 in one of Europe’s largest wooden buildings, with a spectacular view on the airstrip. It’s the first property of Marriott in Luxembourg. The Moxy is a lifestyle concept with distinctive, trendy design and decor. The bar is the heart of the hotel and serves as reception. The lobby area is the place for breakfast, lunch, coworking and is used for events. From here you can watch the airplanes maneuver and observe the buzz on the airfield.

‘In general, Moxy hotels are not focused on the corporate business, but at this hotel we have 80% business guests’, Margaux Cristini, Captain of Moxy Luxembourg explains. ‘The rooms have a compact design, but our owners decided to make them more spacious than usual, up to 25/27m2. When we opened our stunning terrace, it was immediately intensively used, and the lobby was the perfect location for a special Ducati motorbike presentation.’

From running stationary to a flying start

‘Our occupancy was high from the start and guests were curious about the new hotel. Moxy immediately became a popular place’, Margaux proudly states.

‘But every hotel opening is intense, and we also came up against things. We encountered some construction delays. Therefore, we needed to re-schedule the installation with Van Hessen. Once our IT network and systems were installed it worked very well. First OPERA5 Cloud PMS was installed. We needed to set up the integration between OPERA5 Cloud and Marriott to get direct access to the rate codes and loyalty program. Simphony Cloud POS was installed immediately after.

Van Hessen was on-site during the opening, and they made sure that everything went smooth. They reacted very quickly when we had some issues after installation. Like the reports from OPERA that couldn’t be downloaded. Van Hessen resolved it within two hours. And they were very helpful to fix the integration with our cash management system. At Van Hessen they’re quick. That’s one of the things that makes the customer care of Van Hessen stand out.

Best of both worlds

‘The reporting module that OPERA5 Cloud PMS offers is very helpful in our daily routine. As a Marriott franchisee we work with the membership program and must keep track on the discounts and benefits guests have. With OPERA Cloud PMS this is automated so we can fully service our guests.

The integration between OPERA5 Cloud PMS and Simphony Cloud POS is seamless. Charges are easily transferred to the room. The set up of Simphony is easy and my crew find that the system works very smoothly.

So, our restaurant team is very skilled with Simphony POS, while the reception team works comfortably with OPERA PMS. It’s the best of both worlds’, Margaux says.
